ol stopping planes
coming to bomb defenceless
Cuba?" he asked.

As he spoke, Cuban aiuAforce
planes criss - crossed the skies
But the only violence reported in
the capital during his speech
was the throwing of a small
bomb at the building of the pro
government newspaper Revolu-
cion. A passer-by was wounded
slightly.

Castro called his followers to
his support after Matos and 30
of his officers in Camaguey re
signed from the revolutionary
army last week, mystery planes
simultaneously bombarded Ha-
vana with anti - Castro leaflets
and terrorist gangs roared
through the capital in cars,
throwing bombs and grenades.

The threat to revive the mili-
tary tribunals underscored the
gravity of the crisis facing
Castro. He himself had abolished
them July 12 and halted the ex-
ecutions after at least 555 Cubans
by unofficial tabulation had died.
Since then the maximum penalty
imposed by civil courts for ac-
tivities against the government
has been 30 years in prison.
